25-hectare vineyard plot settled at 80m of
altitude. The upper part of the plateau is almost entirely planted
with Merlot. In this plot, soils are filled with gravels from the
Garonne resting on a clay layer. This terroir gives powerful and
structured wines. The bottom of the plateau offers a limestone soil
structure sited on clay lower layers. Merlot wines from this terroir
have similarities with the right bank Bordeaux vineyard: powerful and
robust mouth. Sauvignon Blancs, which adapts itself very well to
limestone, is especially aromatic, developing exotic fruits
fragrance. Our white Sauvignon Blanc Callipyge cuvée comes from this
plot.
North zone
paparon terroir
On the Grusson river right bank, this 18-hectare vineyard plot is settled on sandy loam soils resting on clay-gravelly base. In some places, erosion of the sandy-silty layers reveals a pure gravel base called “graves” in French. This plot hosts red (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and white (mostly Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc) grape varieties. These terroirs, with lighter soils, give fruity, seductive, and enjoyable wines from their youth.
South-East zone
CUEILLE TERROIR
Plot of 35 hectares in one piece with a majority of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon but also Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Verdot. Soils are composed of ancient alluvium resting on clay-gravelly lower layer. This terroir produces wines which reveal volume and a pronounced tannic delicacy as aging progress goes. Ceuille terroir wines are patterned with saline finish and outmost elegance. From this very beautiful terroir is born our Callipyge red cuvée.
“Les Graves”, Bordeaux gravels
AN EXCEPTIONAL TERROIR
The “Graves” denomination refers to this
terroir and underlines the major role played in the quality its
wines. It is actually the only denomination in France bearing the
name of its soil. “Las gravas de Bordeu”, literally “the
Bordeaux gravels”. They are alluvial stones carried by Garonne
river and deposited on its banks millions of years ago. Rooted in the
heart of Bordeaux vineyard, in the middle of unspoiled nature, our
estate draws its strength from the diversity of its terroirs. This
outstanding situation empowers our wines with aromatic richness,
typical from Graves denomination wines.
The terroir footprint
FROM THE GROUND TO THE GRAPE
Entirely in “Graves” denomination, our estate
is located on gravel hills, with clay under layer, close to Sauternes
terroir. Here, sun is not shy! The vines flourish filled of sunshine
and beneficiating from hot gravels radiations at the end of the day.
As a result, berries mature regularly and gradually, to reflect the
outmost expression of our terroir.

Guardians of the vineyard
VINES, LIFE AND A TEAM!
In the vineyard and in the cellar, only teamwork
can meet our quality requirements. With cautious and precise gesture,
Anthony and his team allow our vines to flourish in our different
terroirs. By dint of commitment, respect and hard work, Château de
Respide vineyard produces healthy grapes of great concentration
vintage after vintage. It is here, in the vineyard, that story of a
great wine begins.
Respect for nature
LISTENING TO THE LAND
All our plots carry grass between 2 vine rows and
are weeded under the row. The inter-row is sown with various plants
aiming at different goals: natural fertilization, soil structuring,
organic material enhancement, biodiversity preservation, limitation
of erosion and carbon storage tool. Each year, we increase mechanical
weeding. Many hedges, woods and a few streams run through the
vineyard, providing a priceless asset for biodiversity
